The laws will be much stricter against people who sexual abuse younger children. A measure was signed into law Monday by Gov. Chris Christie that would serve at least a 25 year prison term to anyone convicted of a sexual assault against a 13 year old or younger. The Jessica Lunsford Act has been signed in 46 states now, including New Jersey. There is a provision to limit the minimum sentence to 15 years if the prosecutor believes it best serves the victim in the case.
