BEACH FILL WILL LIKELY BE COMPLETE IN AVALON IN NEXT 10 DAYS

A beach fill in Avalon is progressing and should be wrapped up before the Memorial Day weekend. Borough officials say the beach fill is expected to be done in the next 10 days. Currently, the fill is at 20th St. and working its way south. The project continues to place nearly 40,000 cubic yards of sand on the Borough’s beachfront every day.  To date, 260,000 cubic yards of sand has been placed on the Avalon beaches by the dredge “Illinois”; this represents more than half of the total sand volume of 450,000 cubic yards.
