AVALON, SEA ISLE TO FLIP COIN FOR BEACH FILL

An event will be held on the Townsend’s Inlet Bridge on Wednesday morning to decide which community…Avalon or Sea Isle City…will ‘go first’ during an upcoming beach fill.  Mayors and elected leaders from both communities will be on the bridge Wednesday at 10:00am to flip a coin to determine the order of the beach fill.  Both communities are funding a $10 million beach fill that result in over 1.2 million cubic yards of sand being placed on beaches in both communities.  That beach fill project is slated to begin in a few weeks.  The community that secures necessary permits for the beach fill first will get its beach first; in the event the permits are granted simultaneously, the coin flip will determine the order.  The project will be done by Great Lakes Dredge and Dock Company LLC of Illinois.
