AVALON APPROVES NEW BUDGET WITH SMALL TAX HIKE

The Avalon Borough Council approved a new budget that includes a minor tax hike.  Council approved the new spending plan that includes a one half cent increase in the local purpose tax rate in 2014.  Avalon still maintains one of the lowest municipal tax rates in the entire state thanks to having over $7 billion in assessed value.  Council also approved a new plan to regulate kayaks at its kayak park.  This year, only residents and property owners will be able to store kayaks at the park for the season.
