ATLANTIC CITY MAN SENTENCED IN AGGRAVATED MANSLAUGHTER CASE

A Superior Court Judge sentenced an Atlantic City man to 58 years in prison on Thursday for the Dec. 8, 2009, shooting death of a teenager, Atlantic County Prosecutor Ted Housel stated.

Sellers Ingram, 39, must serve 47 1⁄2 years in prison before becoming eligible for parole for killing Jamal D. Smith, 19, of Pleasantville, at the Sassafras Run Apartment complex in Pleasantville.

Ingram was convicted on May 19 of aggravated manslaughter, two counts of possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, receiving stolen property [that being a 9 mm handgun used in the killing] and two counts of possession of a weapon by a convicted felon. At today’s sentencing, Superior Court Judge Michael A. Donio granted the State’s application to sentence the defendant to a discretionary extended term as a persistent offender
