ATLANTIC CITY MAN DIES FROM STAB INJURIES

An Atlantic City man who was stabbed on July 11, 2011 died of his injuries on Wednesday night, Atlantic County Prosecutor Ted Housel said.

Ignacio Castro, 45, of Pacific Avenue, was seen staggering down Pacific Avenue at approximately 5 a.m. on July 11. A witness called 911. Atlantic City Police arrived a short while later and discovered the victim lying on the ground at the corner of Pacific and Florida avenues. Castro was then transported to the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Campus. He was pronounced dead at the hospital at 5 p.m. on Wednesday night.

Atlantic County Medical Examiner Dr. Hydow Park conducted an autopsy on Castro and preliminarily determined the cause of death was complications of a stab wound to the chest and the manner of death was homicide.

The matter is under investigation. More details will follow as they become available.
