ASSEMBLY BUDGET COMMITTEE JUST GETS SPENDING PLAN FORWARD

Only one Democrat voted to move the state budget forward in the Assembly budget committee. The budget passed by a 5-4 margin. This means that budget is available for a full floor vote in both houses. Questions remain whether the budget can be passed. The Democrats that voted for the budget on both committees said they did so mostly to avoid a government shutdown. Some Republicans have recently said they have a problem with the budget as well. A budget needs to pass before the end of the month to avoid a government shutdown.
