AIRTRAN BEING BOUGHT BY SOUTHWEST

235px-Southwest_Airlines_Logo.svgA major acquisition may create some changes at the local airport. Southwest has announced it has reached an agreement to buy Airtran. The deal is worth $1.4 billion. A press conference is scheduled for Monday morning to announce the deal. It is unclear whether this takeover will have any impact of the level of service provided by Airtran to the Atlantic City International Airport. Airtran is one of two major airlines to provide service into Atlantic City, with Spirit Air being the other.
