88-YEAR-OLD RETIRES FROM CAPE MAY COUNTY

Freeholder Director Daniel Beyel and the Cape May County Board of Chosen Freeholders recognized recently retired county employee Ed Rodgers, 88 years old, at their meeting held on Tuesday, November 22, 2011.

Rodgers, who retired from the County in October 2011, was born in 1923 in Philadelphia.  He is a WWII Veteran and was part of the Army Field Artillery Unit and 30th Infantry Division.

Rodgers worked for RCA as a project engineer and then manager of the radar division until his retirement in 1985. He then moved to Lower Township and traveled for awhile before starting his new job as a greeter at the Cape May County Park and Zoo in 1990.   He later became a park attendant and through the years was responsible for collecting millions of dollars to help support the AZA accredited zoo.
