The Greater Wildwood Chamber of Commerce presents the 8th Annual Fabulous ’50s Celebration on Friday, October 14 and Saturday, October 15 in the Wildwoods. The two day celebration will pay tribute to the 1950s and will highlight the Wildwoods’ role in the birth of Rock ‘n Roll music.
The fun begins Friday night in the Wildwoods Convention Center with a Record Hop featuring the “Geator with the Heater,” Jerry Blavat, who is guaranteed to get everyone moving and grooving to classic oldies. The Record Hop takes place from 7-11 p.m. and admission is $13 per person.
Spend Saturday afternoon outdoors at the free Fabulous ’50s Street Fair taking place at Fox Park, located across from the Wildwoods Convention Center on Ocean Avenue, from 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. The street fair will include live entertainment throughout the day, featuring Shake, Rattle & Soul, 1st Ladies of Rock and Soul, and Bandstand. There will be a live radio broadcast by Fun 106.7 and also be sure to check out the classic car show, the Doo-Wop ’50s Bus Tour and a variety of vendors offering ’50s memorabilia, many delicious food options and much more!
Saturday evening at 7 p.m., a fabulous ’50s concert will take place in the Oceanfront Arena at the Wildwoods Convention Center featuring Little Anthony and The Imperials (‘Tears on My Pillows,’ ‘Shimmy, Shimmy, Ko-Ko Bop’); Diamond Dave Somerville (‘Little Darlin,’ ‘Why Do Fools Fall in Love’); Jimmy Beaumont and The Skyliners (‘Since I Don’t Have You,’ ‘Tell Me’); The Capris (‘There’s a Moon Out Tonight’); and The Elegants (‘Little Star.’) Admission is $49.50 per person.
