One person has been killed after the vehicle the person was in burst into flames early Friday morning on the Atlantic City Expressway. State Police continue to investigate the incident that occurred on the westbound lanes of the Expressway at 1:00am. The person was pulled from the vehicle and was pronounced dead.
The April Kauffman murder case will be featured on ABC’s “20/20” program Friday evening. Kauffman was the Atlantic County woman who was killed by a hired hitman with her husband’s involvement. Her husband eventually committed suicide.
A 56 year old Mays Landing man was killed during a motorcycle accident in West Virginia. Police say Rodney L. Wilson lost his life when his motorcycle crashed into another vehicle over the weekend. The driver of the other vehicle was not injured.
Riot charges have now been filed in connection with the weekend fight at the Hamilton Mall that closed the building Saturday evening. Police say five juvenile boys and two adults were arrested and additional charges were filed this week. Most of the suspects were from Mays Landing and Atlantic City.
A school bus accident ended the day for students in Egg Harbor Township. Police say the crash occurred shortly after 3pm Wednesday on the Black Horse Pike. A car involved in the accident was taken from the scene via truck; no word of any serious injuries to the students on the bus.
A man who attempted to get from New York to Scotland on a rowboat got as far as Barnegat Light when he ran into difficulty. The Coast Guard announced that it sent a lifeboat to help rescue the man Monday morning who was caught in rough seas. The 52 year old man was safely removed…
A 45 year old woman from Camden County was killed in this week’s box truck accident on the Atlantic City Expressway. State Police say Alice Williams was a passenger in the truck that ran off the Expressway Wednesday into a group of trees. The accident remains under investigation.
Two people were seriously injured during an accident on the Atlantic City Expressway Wednesday afternoon. State Police say a box truck went off the Expressway in Winslow Township Wednesday and two people inside were temporarily trapped in the vehicle. The highway was partially closed while the investigation occurred.
The state navigation channels in the Barnegat Bay that had been loaded with silt and sediment are again safe for navigation. The New Jersey Department of Transportation announced that the channels have been safely dredged and will be open before Memorial Day weekend. Many of those channels were filled with sediment during Hurricane Sandy.
Atlantic County residents will not see an increase in taxes this year. Atlantic County Executive Dennis Levinson announced that the county budget totals $217.5 million and includes no increase in the county tax rate. $8.3 million in refunds will be offered; most of that money will go to Atlantic City.
