One person is dead following the crash of a dump truck on the Garden State Parkway in Egg Harbor Township. NJ.com reports that the accident occurred in the southbound lanes of the Parkway Wednesday afternoon. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene; no other vehicles were involved in the accident.
The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office is now supervising the Linwood Police Department. The Office issued a statement saying the move is necessary due to several complaints of alleged misconduct against Linwood Police Chief John Hamilton. The Prosecutor’s Office will supervise Linwood Police “until further notice”.
Two people lost their lives during a wrong way motor vehicle accident on the Garden State Parkway in Barnegat on Friday. Police say the accident took place near mile marker 68. A vehicle traveling south in the northbound lanes caused the two car accident.
A winning Jersey Cash 5 lottery ticket was sold this week at a Shoprite supermarket on the White Horse Pike in Hammonton. Lottery officials say the ticket is worth over $529,000. The jackpot had climbed for four consecutive days without a winner.
New Jersey State Police say they rounded up 14 fugitives, mostly from Atlantic County this week. Ten of those criminals were wanted for violent crimes. Most of the criminals who were busted are from Atlantic City and Pleasantville.
Two duck hunters who became stranded on an island in Brigantine were rescued by the United States Coast Guard on Tuesday. The next semester at Stockton University will be starting a week late. The University announced that the semester after the winter break will begin on January 25th, instead of January 19th. A weeklong spring break in March has been cancelled.
The Motor Vehicle Commission licensing center in Cardiff was closed on Thursday due to an employee testing positive for coronavirus. The Cardiff center will remain closed until next Thursday. One third of all of the Motor Vehicle Commission centers in the State are closed due to Covid-19 exposures.
A 69 year old doctor from Mays Landing has had his medical license revoked permanently for participating in a scheme to rip off nearly $900,000 in physical therapy payments that he was not entitled to. State officials announced the penalty against Robert Claude McGrath. The action was taken by the State Board of Medical Examiners.
